Beastly

Now , another movie inspired post :)
This one comes from Beastly, which I was quiet reluctant to see because of Vanessa Hudgens ( think I don't have to explain ) but I really liked the story line :) Anyways, the star of the movie for me was Mary Kate Olsen, which played a witch and her outfits were just outstanding :) She was perfectly styled, dark and dramatic and straight-from-the-catwalk like :)
Unfortunately this is the only picture of her that I could find :(

I've searched through catwalk propositions of this dark almost Halloween look and this is what catched my eye the most.
+ nearly all of these are from Fall, therefore it looks like black is the way for next season :) which makes me really happy, black is my favourite colour when it comes to clothes:)

Alice in Wonderland

"I will tell you a secret. All the best people are crazy!"
Aice In Wonderland

I've just seen this movie, it's amazing.
We all love secrets, everyone of us keeps at least on piece of information for themselves ;)
Even the most polite and quiet person likes to go crazy sometimes, even with my minimalistic a quiet simple style I love to throw some craziness sometimes if I just feel like it. Surrounding myself with much more brighter colors and much braver shapes :)
There are some suggestion from designers that persuade us to let our inner immature self to come out :)

Aww... we can always cound on good old Westwood when it comes to craziness :)

So is Betsey Johnson the one we can count on in that matter :)

Bows

Bows have been introduced as a symbol to how fragile the life is and how quickly it can unravel, however in fashion their status is pretty strong. In fashion history woman's clothing have been adored with bows being places literally from head to toes. From bow headbands , through handbags, bracelets and shoes. They are one of the most iconic pieces and are consistent on the catwalk throughout the decades. Bows have become a signature piece for many designers, from Chanel's traditional version to Betsey Johnson's more updated version. Because of my own little crush on bows it strongly leads me to Chanel being one of my favorite fashion houses, but about that later ;) Personally my crush on bows mainly translates to headbands and fastening ribbons in a bow around the waist line. They also look great under the collars, possibly with a brooch :) But honestly they look just great everywhere, so you can throw them wherever you feel like.

It's a advert that I've seen in recent Vogue, which just made my jaw drop down to the floor. It's a pure quintessence of why bows are such a phenomenon. The bow emphasizes Natalie Portman's  spectacular beauty. Bow headbands give you that delicate feeling and finish to the complete look.

This is and expample of how diverse the use of bow can be, you're only limited by your own imagination. This is a watch from Betsey Johnson. She also have used bows as her signature but did it more modern a little bit immature and fun-like way ( as she always does ) . I fell in love with that watch immediately, for me it's a ultimate winner, making Betsey Johnson come on my list of regular designers to check out.

Above we have an examples from a designers using bows in their creations, all of those are kept with the traditional purpose of the bow, creating that girly almost innocent feel to the gown. The red shoes are from Salvatore Ferragamo, the same type of bow appears on every shoe from him, which I find just adorable, however Ferragamo bringed bow to the Italian, designing it that way so it fits the stylish working woman profile and more formal edge to it, with much cleaner and straighter cuts.

So girls whenever you add a bow to your outfit to soften the look, or you center the look around the bow, embracing the ballerina natural look, or if you play it more edgy with leather or strong colors... it will always look good ! :))

Spring Trends

As my first post I've decided to write about spring trends, personally I don't necessarily follow and like trends, I rather embrace personal styles. However I find spotting  trends very interesting , that constant change in fashion keeps it always interesting and sometimes I can be very exposed to seasonal trends, but I think it comes from my own drive for experimentation :)
Every season there are many trends so I've picked up those that appeal to me most.

Prints and Flowers:
Christian Dior Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear
Christian Dior in his collection showed us a lot of exciting prints, mainly floral. Key in this season is that it's totally acceptable to join together two completely different flower prints. Those that with a first thought may not go together, but this season they will ! Eg. flower prints skirt and a top with totally different colors, sizes and layout.

70's SHOW:
Salvatore Ferragamo spring 2011 runway photos
Salvatore Ferragamo and many more designer took and inspiration from 70's. However it's made moder, designers deliver to us much more cleaner version then it's flower-child predecessors. Key items for this look are wide leg trousers, floor lenght skirts, and bohemian blouses. You can play it with natural beautiful and calm colors (like Ferragamo) or more colourfull (Fendi).

PUNK'D
Balmain Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear

This is a trend that keeps coming back. You can work it  with bright colors and geometrical shapes for a fresh twist to this look , just like in Gaultire's collection, or keep it sexy and with skinny trousers(recommending PVC) , high heels, slightly over sized and slashed shirt and biker jacket. Personally I think that it's a little bit heave for a sunny weather, however it gives you that extra edge :)

And significant observation from high street is WHITENESS. As i fell in love with recent H&M collection there many more high street shops embracing that fresh, light and flawless look which always's visible during the summer and looks absolutely fabulous on everyone. So on you're next shopping spree think about you own white piece of wardrobe, for me it's an absolute must have for summer :)
